Chapultepec Park's Castle,

Mexico City (17 Dec 99)

Chapultepec Park is Mexico City's largest park. One of its main attractions is Emperor Maximilian's castle built on top of a hill with a commanding view of the city.

During the American invasion of Mexico in the late 1800s, the castle was defended by a squad young cadets, one of whom wrapped himself in the Mexican flag and jumped to his death, rather than surrender the colors to the advancing enemy.
